Master Advising provides advising, registration, and retention services for new, undecided, distance learning students and students in developmental classes.
Master Advising is the entry point for most new students coming to Maysville Community and Technical College. Students begin their college journey with an appointment to meet with a Master Advisor. These specially trained advisors volunteer and work above and beyond the call of duty. They do so because they enjoy working with new students and they are keenly aware of how important the first few advising appointments are to a student’s success. To make an appointment please contact Valerie Mullins.
Many of the students who come to MCTC are not quite ready for college level classes and these include students who did well in high school. We have developmental classes in English, Mathematics, and Reading to help students progress and succeed in reaching their academic goals. Students who have not taken a college entrance exam or who have ACT scores below 18 will need to take the COMPASS exam to assess their need for developmental classes. Please click here to access the Assessment Center page.
Students can raise their COMPASS scores and reduce their need for developmental course work by going next door to work with the Adult Education staff. Please click here to access the Adult Education page.
